Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): The first district level management committee meeting on Sakhi- One Stop Centre (OSC) was held on May 2 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, in his office’s conference hall.
OSC case worker, Nancy Lotha, while giving a brief introduction of Sakhi- One Stop Centre, stated that OSC is a scheme for integrated response for women affected with violence/ gender-based violence, which was an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, and funded through the Nirbhaya Fund which is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
Highlighting on the activities, she stated that integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces, are provided under one roof.
The OSC will support all women and girls (boys up to eight years) affected by violence, irrespective of caste, class, religion, region, sexual orientation or marital status for girls below 18 years of age. Institutions and authorities established under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act
2000 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 will be linked with the OSC, a DIPR report stated quoting Nancy. She also highlighted on awareness programmes that were carried out in the district to sensitise the people about OSC.
OSC centre administrator, Renthunglo Kikon, dwelling on service delivery mechanism for women and children in distress, emphasised on the important aspects of OSC and the facilities to help the victims. She also sought the co-operation of all line departments so that through their support, the agency could reach out to the people and create more impact about the OSC.
Discussion was also held among the members, where important points were raised to strengthen the activities of the One Stop Centre.
