Consultation held on SDG district roadmaps for Kohima, Tseminyu

DIMAPUR — In an effort to localise the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the district level, the district administration of Kohima and Tseminyu, in collaboration with the SDG Coordination Centre (SDGCC) of the Planning & Transformation department, organised a consultation for the formulation of SDG district roadmaps at DC’s conference hall, Kohima, on Monday.

Delivering the keynote address, Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu, Dr. Tino Chang, highlighted the importance of SDGs, emphasising their significance in fostering sustainable and inclusive development at the district level, a DIPR report stated.

Joint Secretary, Home, Hiazu Meru, also highlighted the importance of segregating the data for the newly formed districts. 

The consultation’s key objective was to chart a clear path for the Kohima and Tseminyu districts to achieve the targets and vision set forth in the ‘Nagaland SDG Vision 2030: Leaving No One Behind.’

As part of the consultation, the technical sessions for formulating the district roadmap were carried out by the officials from SDGCC, Planning & Transformation department.

The first session was carried out by SDG officer, Abilo Humtsoe, who shared on the overview of the SDGs implementation in Nagaland and SDGs in the context of Kohima and Tseminyu districts.

The first session also highlighted the significance of data-driven decision-making and monitoring mechanisms to track SDG progress accurately. Monitoring and Evaluation, Khrieketou Suohu, shared the performance of the district on the SDG indicators.

The second session comprised of one-to-one department consultations for formulating the SDG District Roadmap.

The program was also attended by the district planning officer and assistant planning officer from Kohima, along with administrative officers, heads of various offices, and representatives from departments from both Kohima and Tseminyu districts.

The consultation was chaired by Addl. Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rhosietho Nguori.

The SDGs are a set of 17 global goals which were formulated in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to create a future development framework, which is to be achieved by 2030 by all countries.
