Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): While reassuring itself with the hope that all is not lost from the marauding alien cultures, the Nagaland Congress has decided to reach out to all concerned citizens and share the impending danger of losing traditional values and faith with some believers, intelligentsias and senior citizens who continue to uphold the traditional values.

Nagaland Congress made this decision following assurance from the national president, Sonia Gandhi, when the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) delegation met her recently in New Delhi. A NPCC press release issued by its president, K Therie, stated that the delegation has apprised her about the demographic changes taking place in Nagaland.

NPCC has raised the issue of electing a BJP nominee to Rajya Sabha unopposed from a Christian state of which they too are members. NPCC stated that the action of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has left them speechless before the suffering Christian brothers and sisters and minorities in the country.

NPCC alleged that corrupt electoral practices of accepting money and material from corrupt leaders in exchange for votes have developed in democratic election. The delegation told the national president that tolerating extortion, illegal activities and allowing youth to join extortion forces with no objection from customary and administrative guardians has become the norm.

“All development funds have cuts for ministers, officers and multiple factions and such actions are accepted. They call it commission, contribution and donation,” NPCC stated.

It went on to alleged that corrupt ministers and officers are buying hundreds and thousands of acres of land and building multi-storied buildings all over, adding that tourism and medical department funds are used to develop personal properties. NPCC also stated that the entire budget for twenty years has vanished into thin air and does not percolate down to the districts anymore.

Pointing out that Nagas have already lost work culture, NPCC cautioned that the customs, honesty and hospitality that people talk of highly while referring to Nagas is in danger of being submerged.

NPCC has also held the UDA government accountable for the delay in implementation of the two official agreements between GOI and negotiating teams of the NSCN (IM) and the NNPGs.

“The problem is no more with the insurgents, it is with the state government who wants to fish out of trouble waters,” it added.

Accusing UDA government of destroying the social inherent structure and compromising the state’s Christian faith, NPCC stated that giving another term to UDA would completely destroy Nagaland and change the demography forever.

Meanwhile, NPCC stated that its national president has highlighted the need to fight back stating that Jawaharlal Nehru and the Gandhi family have given protection under the Constitution, which must be preserved and protected.

She also expressed that the Northeast and especially Nagaland is close to their hearts and assured to stand with NPCC in the fight. Gandhi further assured that NECCC and NEYCCC would be soon reorganised.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar, AICC in-charge of Nagaland who assisted the NPCC delegation, has also assured full support to fight the corrupt opponents.
