Congress stages sit-in over bad road in Dimapur

Dimapur, Oct. 25 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Minority Department and Dimapur District Congress Committee along with other frontal organisations of the party staged a sit-in at Dohobinalla Junction and GS road to protest against the bad condition of roads in the city on Monday.
Speaking during the protest, NPCC president K Therie said that Dimapur town, which is the highest contributor to the state’s economy, should not be sidelined.
He accused the government of not taking any measures to ease the traffic jam in Dimapur and the bad road condition adds to the woes. He claimed that the roads in the town could be repaired within “two nights” if the government has the will.
Therie went on to urge the people of Dimapur to collectively stand up for the construction of the roads and also appealed to all the business community of Dimapur not to pay tax to the government if the road is not repaired by December 31 this year.
Earlier, Working President Dimapur DCC, Kutoho Chishi said that Dimapur is the commercial hub of Nagaland and the market area is the main supplier of goods to other parts of the state but the government is not concerned about its road.
The president of NSUI, Chopika Sumi, and Chairman of Minority Department, Rajesh Kumar Sethi also spoke during the protest.
