DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has reiterated its allegations that multiple cases of flagrant irregularities and fraudulent activities have occurred in the working of state-sponsored infrastructure development projects in the Alongtaki assembly constituency, which it had previously highlighted.

In a press note issued by its public grievances department, the party said that Alongtaki constituency was home to Dr. lmkongliba Ao, the ‘founder architect’ of Nagaland, and at a time when the whole state is preparing to honour his memory and gearing up to celebrate statehood day, it is saddening that people there are being ‘cheated out of their rights in such a brazen manner’.

The party claimed that data collected by it through RTIs strongly suggests that crores of public money had been withdrawn for several projects with no evidence of proportionate work being implemented on the ground, and that despite its repeated prior interventions seeking accountability from the government and the project promoters, they had received no response.

“The stoic silence maintained by the government of the day in spite of such damning allegations is deplorable and will be considered an admission of guilt,” the statement read.

Condemning ‘such blatant abuse of power’, the party demanded an immediate explanation to set the record straight in this matter, adding that if no such intervention is forthcoming from their end, it will be compelled to intensify its fight for the rights of the people in the affected constituency.

“We also call out to all right thinking citizens of Alongtaki Assembly Constituency, irrespective of their political affiliations, to come forward and join us in this cause. The interests of the public is paramount in our book, and we will ensure that we see through to the end of this fight for justice, against any and all odds,” it said.
