THE Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today renewed its demand that repoll be held in all the 1344 polling stations exceeding 90% voter turnout on April 9 and not just in two booths.
Reacting to yesterday’s Election Commission order to conduct re-poll in two polling stations under 33 Suruhoto A/C in Zunheboto district, NPCC general secretary (admin) Medokul Sophie said the NPCC appreciates the Commission for the prompt action taken to probe into the election process of the recently held 16 Lok Sabha election in Nagaland.
However, the NPCC strongly reasserted that repoll should be held in all the 1344 polling stations where polling percentage had exceeded 90% and above so as to ensure free and fair election process from here on.
The State Congress in a representation submitted to the ECI on April 25 had highlighted that massive malpractice marred the April 9 LS poll in the State, because of which over 1300 polling stations had exceeded 90 per cent voting. It had demanded that the voting in those polling stations be declared null and void and re-poll be ordered.
Further, the NPCC demanded that re-poll at 49 Ladigarh police station under Tamlu A/C be held at Ladigarh Government Primary School itself.
It should not be shifted to alternative location, but the concerned Election authority should take all precautionary measures to ensure smooth polling process without further derailment.
The Nagaland congress also reaffirmed to fight with full vigor against the communal and exclusive politics of the BJP. It said the BJP manifesto on Abrogation of Article 370, Uniform Civil Code, Construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya and Anti Cow Slaughter Law is alien to the Naga culture.
