- DIMAPUR — The
Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees Association (CANSSEA) has
called for urgent intervention from the state government in the ongoing crisis
surrounding the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS).
- In a press release, CANSSEA informed that the association
held a detailed discussion with Thavaseelan K, chief executive officer of the
Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), at the association’s office in
Kohima on April 17.
- The meeting focused on the financial impasse between Future
Generali India Insurance (FGII) and empanelled hospitals under CMHIS.
- In the meeting, the CANSSEA raised serious concerns over the
impact of the impasse on healthcare services, particularly for state government
employees and the general public.

- “According to data presented during the deliberations, FGII
has approved INR INR147.65 crore in claims out of the total INR 178.96 crore
filed between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025. However, only INR 99.28 crore
has been disbursed so far, leaving a significant INR 48.81 crore unpaid, a
delay that has caused severe financial strain on hospitals and healthcare
providers,” the release stated.
- The association urged the state government to explore
immediate temporary financial measures to support the empanelled hospitals
until the insurance-related issues are resolved, emphasising that such measures
are essential to sustain the scheme and prevent further hardship for
beneficiaries.
- “Though there are hiccups to this nascent scheme, CANSSEA is
hopeful that in the not-so-distant future, the issues will be fully resolved.
The CMHIS holds great promise for benefiting state employees and the public at
large.
- “Once the authority resolves the current situation, faster
claim settlements and a wider scope of healthcare services will help the
beneficiaries,” it stated.
- Further, the association appealed to the Insurance
Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), the Union Ministry of
Finance, the National Health Authority and the state government to act swiftly
in resolving the matter with FGII and restore the effective functioning of
CMHIS.
