DIMAPUR — Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, political parties, tribal bodies, institutions, and civil society organisations have conveyed condolences on the demise of Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan, who passed away on August 15 in Chennai.


NLA Speaker: Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, stated that late Ganesan was a distinguished statesman and a dedicated public servant, who devoted his life to the service of the nation with sincerity, humility and steadfast commitment. In a condolence message, the Speaker stated that during his tenure as the 19th Governor of Nagaland, Ganesan worked tirelessly for the welfare and progress of the state, earning the respect and admiration of all. “I, on my own behalf and on behalf of the Member of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” the message read


NDPP: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in a condolence message, stated that Ganesan was known for being a gentleman, down to earth and humble in nature. The party also stated that during his tenure as governor, he never imposed his authority and position, but rather helped steer the state with his vast wisdom and maturity. “His love for the Naga people was second to none and throughout his tenure, he ensured that the concerns of the people came first and foremost and is evident by his numerous visits to the far flung parts of the state,” read a condolence message issue by NDPP President Chingwang Konyak.

Sümi Hoho: The Sümi Hoho stated that as the governor, Ganesan served the people of Nagaland with humility, integrity, and commitment. “His contributions and guidance will be remembered with respect and gratitude. “At this moment of grief, the Sümi Hoho conveys our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones. We join the people of Nagaland in mourning the loss of a respected leader and statesman,” the hoho stated in its message.

 

NMA: The Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) stated that Ganesan was a dedicated supporter of empowering women in the state and stood firmly to ensure that the women in Nagaland could get their constitutional rights. “We place on record our deep gratitude for his unwavering support throughout the trials and harassment on the Naga Mothers Association by certain vested interested groups that preceded the historic municipal elections in the state. We have lost a guide, a friend, who made the hallowed gates of the Raj Bhavan accessible to all citizens and gave his best to help the lesser privileged including our children at the NMA’s Cradle Ridge Centre,” the association stated in a condolence message.


NPF: The Naga People's Front (NPF) stated that during his tenure as the governor, Ganesan served the state with humility, integrity and a deep sense of responsibility. “His contributions as a statesman and Constitutional head will be fondly remembered. I, on behalf of all the rank and file of the Naga People's Front, (NPF) and on my own behalf, convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones, and pray that the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest,” NPF President stated in a message.

CANSSEA: The Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) fondly recalled his dedicated service, humility, and commitment towards the welfare of the people of Nagaland since assuming office in early 2023. “His contributions and good deeds will be remembered with respect and gratitude,” it stated.


Chairman IDAN: Chairman of Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Abu Metha, stated that Ganesan was a fine gentleman —dignified, charming, hospitable, and kind. “His support, encouragement, and blessings will always remain a source of inspiration to me. ...I will always cherish the many moments we shared — from meaningful deliberations on culture, art, sport, development, and Nagaland’s future, to the planning and execution of significant programmes and events,” Metha’s message read.


IRCSNB: The Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch (IRCSNB) conveyed condolences over the demise of Governor La. Ganesan, who was also the president of IRCSNB. The society termed his passing as a great loss not only to the people of Nagaland “but also to the humanitarian fraternity of the Red Cross.” “His guidance and support as President of the Society in Nagaland will always be remembered with deep gratitude.”


Advisor Tovihoto: Advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election Department, Tovihoto Ayemi stated that late Ganesan’s “dedication, humility, and service to the people will always be remembered.” “Heartfelt condolences to his family and all who mourn his loss. May his soul rest in peace,” Ayemi’s message read.


The Seva Bharati Nagaland, Janjati Shiksha Samiti (Vidya Bharati) Nagaland, and Nagaland Gorkha Association also conveyed condolences.
