The family of Late Yangmaso Shaiza, former Chief Minister of Manipur was deeply hurt by the statement made by Mr. Z Lohe former Speaker at the peace rally on Naga Political solution organized by Nagaland GB Federation on March 9th 2020, at Dimapur. Among other things Lohe’s reference to former Chief Minister of Manipur who alleged that, “Yangmaso Shaiza, Tangkhul, I will not give an inch of Manipur for Naga integration” was baseless and malicious, it has no historical basis. There is no such statement made by former CM in or outside the floor of the Manipur Assembly, there is neither official or unofficial records where Yangmaso Shaiza made such statement. The family has paid three precious lives in the past because of such unfounded statement. Our painful memories have been resuscitated by Lohe’s statement. We strongly condemn Mr. Lohe’s reckless, irresponsible and disrespectful statement with an agenda to divide the Nagas on the tribal line. The statement was defamatory in nature and slanderous in character. He must apologise to the family of Late Yangmaso Shaiza in particular and the Nagas in general for his hate speech.
