"For effective cleanliness drive in the district, government officers were deployed in every ward to supervise and monitor the ward leaders," a small update from the IPR's Longleng division stated. Students of Modern College in Kohima also took part in the cleanliness drive in their respective area in collaboration with the Dzüvürü panchayat on May 4, updates stated on Sunday. Government and community organisations besides the public took part 'with the emphasis to clear all drainage, culverts and natural waterways to prevent clogging and flooding during monsoon season,' updates stated on Sunday. The shopkeepers were asked to use paper and cloth bags to make Niuland a plastic-free zone, the updates added.
