Community groups appreciate dialogue breakthrough

Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): Various community organisations are issuing congratulatory messages following the ‘breakthrough’ in the dialogue to reolve the Indo-Naga political issue between the government of India and the Naga nationalist organisations. Sumi, Rongmei and Zeliangrong organisations issued separate statements expressing happiness at the development.
The Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho issued a press release welcoming the ‘outcome’ of the talks between the government of India and the NSCN (IM).

“The Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho, welcome the outcome of the talks between NSCN (IM) and the government of India. We always believe in wisdom and appreciated in the negotiating parties for peaceful solution to the Naga problem,” the press release stated.

The Hoho also expressed appreciation to the working committee of the NNPGs, nongovernmental organisations and various tribal organisations, and RN Ravi, governor of Nagaland and the representative of the government of India to the Naga talks “for bringing the talks to the logical conclusion.”

“Peace cannot be achieved only in one sided but the efforts of the collective organisation is required for tasting solution,” the press release stated.

The Sumi Aphuyemi Hoho appealed to the people of the north-eastern states Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to “understand that peace prevail in Nagaland can bear the fruit not only in Nagaland but they too will enjoy the fruit of peace in their state.”

‘Therefore it appeal particularly to NGOs of Manipur not to polarise the society on tribal line or cast to create more problems but be sensible to create congenial atmosphere for lasting peace in the region,’ the note added.

The Rongmei Naga Indigenous Forum of Nagaland also issued a similar statement. The forum expressed “great elation and relief of the suspenseful Naga peace talk for historic break-through after 22 years long of impasse between the various negotiating parties of Naga nationalists and government of India,” the press release from the group stated.

The forum acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, governor and interlocutor RN Ravi, and leaders of the various nationalist groups such as the NNPGs and NSCN-IM.

Further, a group called the ‘Zeliangrong Civil Organisations’ comprising the Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Student’s Union, also issued a press release on behalf of the Zeliangrong people living in the states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. A press release from the Zeliangrong Civil Organisations expressed deep appreciation to leaders of both the sides for the outcome of the talks.
