Mokokchung, April 2 (EMN): ADC and administrator of
Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) W Manpai Phom announced that the commodities
card issued by the Core Team of the Essential Commodities on Covid-19 has now
been activated from April 2 onwards to purchase essential commodities in shops.
Phom stated that each household under Mokokchung municipal has been issued a card to procure essential commodities. The card would allow only one person from a family for purchasing essential commodities and would also ensure social distancing in the awake of Covid-19 pandemic.
The card ensured that shopkeeper could sell or customer buy essential commodities only if the card duly signed by the concerned ward task force is produced in the shop, he said.
Phom, who is also the chairman of the Core Team on Essential Commodities, informed that specific instruction has been given to the respective ward task force on Covid-19 to identified shops in their locality which have the capacity to stock rice.
It ensured that the people in the locality could purchase rice from those shops instead of coming to the main market to stockpile rice for the family and to restrict vehicular movement during the lockdown, he added.
He further informed that LPG cylinders to be delivered at every ward have been discussed for the convenience of the people of Mokokchung.
Private water tanker to obtain registration
Mokokchung district administration, in an order, directed all private water tankers/ carriers operating within Mokokchung municipal area to obtain registration from the core committee on essential commodities on Covid-19.
Deputy commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir stated that there shall be no restriction on the movement of such registered water tanker/ carrier.
