DIMAPUR — Commissioner and Secretary, Environment and Climate Change, Y Kikheto Sema, said on Sunday that father’s have a huge responsibility in society while speaking during the Father’s Day programme at Sumi Baptist Church, Zunheboto and called for the elimination of ‘isms’.
According to a press release, Kikheto stated that good fathers contribute to a better society. He appealed to all fathers to eliminate all forms of ‘isms’, whether tribalism or clanism, which are significant weaknesses in today’s society. Also, he called upon everyone to support the government in its efforts to bring about positive change rather than constantly criticising it.
He appealed to everyone to promote clean elections in the state and noted that geographically, Zunheboto district is centrally located within the state and is surrounded by diverse tribes. Therefore, he called for unity among all residents and emphasised the need to eliminate tribal or clan favouritism during elections.
He also urged the GBs and government servants to refrain from affiliating with underground groups, regardless of factions, and to focus instead on improving the system for the betterment of society.
He further called on everyone to humble themselves, show regard and respect for each other, and strive to maintain a peaceful environment for a better future.
