DIMAPUR — A ten-day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) of NCC cadets from schools and colleges of Nagaland began at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima on January 4. The CATC is being organised under the aegis of 25 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Mokokchung.
A defence release stated that more than 670 security personnel including 621 cadets from Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Shamator, Noklak, Wokha, Phek, Peren, Chümoukedima, Tseminyu and Kiphire districts are participating in the training camp.
Brigadier Dipankar Saha, group commander of NCC Group Kohima, visited the camp and inspected the arrangements on Sunday. He also visited ‘Know your NCC’ information kiosk.
The visiting dignitary was welcomed by Rev. Sister Thianes Mary, deputy registrar, and Rev. Sister Chinnammal, head of administration, by presenting a Naga shawl.
In his speech, the group commander highlighted that camp was organised with an aim to inculcate camaraderie, sense of discipline and cohesiveness among the cadets apart from giving an experience of camp life and training in basic military skills. He exhorted the cadets to make use of the varied training activities being organised in the camp.
He also informed the cadets about employment opportunities in Indian defence forces, police and other state government departments.
It was followed with a health awareness capsule by Dr. T Temsu, director of Blood Bank at District Hospital, Dimapur, on benefits of blood donation. He urged the cadets to come forward and save lives by donating blood.
Report further stated that a total of 82 cadets voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
