Dimapur, Nov. 28 (EMN): Nagaland College Principals’ Association (NCPA) observed its annual conference on November 27 on the theme “NEP 2020: Envisaging a new Nagaland”, which was co-sponsored by Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW).

An update from the association stated that principal of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, Rev. Dr. Sebastian Ousepparampil and Fellow of the New India Foundation and Director of NIDS, Dimapur, Dr. G Kanato Chophy were the resource persons of the technical session.

In the opening address, NCPA president Dr. Visakhonü Hibo remarked that education is the best way to uplift the downtrodden, bridge gender disparity and raise the human capital.

Also speaking on the topic ‘National Education Policy (NEP) 2020: Minority concerns,’ Rev. Dr. Sebastian commented that National Education Policy must take into consideration the issues of minorities and the marginalised, keeping in view democratic value underpinning the Indian Constitution.

Dr. Chophy speaking on the topic ‘NEP 2020: Towards dignity and gender parity in Nagaland’ put an emphasis on the need of quality education and diversifying skill-based learning to empower women. He strongly suggested that in the light of NEP 2020, an ‘influential’ body like the NCPA must study the ground reality, furnish the data, and come up with suggestions and make policy intervention that would help the government to transform education in the state.

It further stated Dr. Vivozol Mekro, principal of Phek Government College, moderated the technical session.
