Coffee table book ‘Weaving Dreams’ launched in Kohima

DIMAPUR — The commissioner and secretary of SCERT and School Education, Kevilenuo Angami, on Thursday launched a coffee table book ‘Weaving dreams- A tribute to inspiring women of Nagaland’ during felicitation to the winners of SDG essay writing competition 2024 and inauguration of a state-level workshop on ‘SDG indicators reporting mechanism’ held at de Oriental Grand in Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, she stated that the coffee table book was thoughtfully curated for inspiring women of Nagaland who represent the very best of the state. She stated that their stories transcend time, reflecting the challenges, triumphs and aspirations of remarkable women and added that they remain a source of inspiration for all especially the younger generation and change-makers.

She commented the team behind the initiative for capturing those compelling narratives and creating a platform that not only celebrates those women but also encourages important conversations about gender equality and inclusivity and in line with ‘Sustainable Development Goal 5,’ which calls for gender equality.

She stated the book would serve as an important step in advancing the agenda of empowering women and girls in Nagaland, stated a DIPR report.

The commissioner and secretary also congratulated the young minds who have participated in the SDG essay writing competition 2024 and stated that their engagement with the sustainable development goals showed a deep understanding of the critical issues people face today.

She also mentioned that the workshop on ‘SDG indicator reporting mechanism’ is essential for ensuring effective tracking, monitoring and reporting of the progress towards achieving the ‘Sustainable development goals.’

In her opening remarks, Nayantara Sasikumar, IES, highlighted that the table book features the stories of 19 individual women and 2 women-led organisations across 10 sectors, who have made some exemplary contributions and gained national and international recognition for their works. She added that the featured women have beaten all odds and made significant contributions to their respective fields in education, entrepreneurship, entertainment, literature and journalism, healthcare, disability, environmental conservation, science and technology or social services and sports.

She also congratulated the winners of the second edition of the annual SDG essay writing competition 2024 stating that the competition was organised to give a voice to the young minds of Nagaland, to share their thoughts, ideas and solutions for a sustainable and inclusive future.

In the SDG essay writing competition 2024 under 15 years and below category, Bendangsola from Dimapur won the first position, while Kupuli X Ayemi from Zunheboto secured the second position, while in the 16 years and above category, C Chingo Konyak from Kohima won the first position, while Livika Sumi from Dimapur secured the second position.
