DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 2

Although the joy of receiving something is not always permanent, we all know how wonderful it feels to receive. That is the magic of kindness. The eatery Kids Garden is organizing a musical event dubbed The Joy of Giving Season-2 in Dimapur. The event is in collaboration with a team of artists, entrepreneurs and young visionaries to finance the education of 24 underprivileged children aged 3-15 years who come from poverty-stricken families.
The first season of Joy of Giving was held on December 24, 2014 where fifteen kids were financed through funds raised by the event.
This year the endeavor is to raise funds to put 24 underprivileged children and a team of young artists, entrepreneurs and visionaries are collaborating with The Kids Garden to raise funds for put 24 underprivileged children through school with funds raised with an evening of Coffee & Music at Life Spring Corner, Dimapur on February 6, 2016 with a ticket of Rs.500 and free will donation.
The lineup of artists includes Voices of Hope led by local singers Nise Meruno, rock group Alobo Naga and the Band, and Asin Shürhozelie, Virie and Ronnie Odyuo.
There are many organizations and institutions who are engaged in exemplary works of giving but the initiative of the Joy of Giving is special. The inspiration behind Joy of Giving, a brainchild of German lady Katrin Rüdel, is lovely. She asserts “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
With her initiative likeminded people particularly young entrepreneurs have come forward joining hands to make Joy of Giving active and not just one time initiative ignoring the many more children who are deprived of their rightful education and childhood.
“After studying their socio-economic conditions, we have realized that the only way for the kids to break away from their vicious cycle and be responsible independent citizens was by giving them quality education” says Katrin Rüdel.
Briefing media persons about the noble cause on Tuesday at The Garden Dimapur, Rüdel said the idea was conceived on encountering children roaming aimlessly around supermarket area even late at night. On query she found many of them were not in school and come from underprivileged families who could not afford education or a decent meal.
Since then The Kids Garden has been meeting weekly and investing on these children for few years now.
After putting those children in school Rüdel says she realized what the society was missing out on bright futures. “What these kids need is a chance to grow up into responsible adults. With education, we give them that chance” puts Rüdel to describe the situation of our society in missing out to identify potential children.
It may be noted that the entire event is being sponsored by individuals from different walks of life.
Our life is richer when we share and that great richness comes from helping others to better their lives. Giving from kindness fills one’s life with joy and encourages others to follow suit. The cause also looks forward for benefactors who wish to extend a helping hand not only during the event but after postproduction as well.
Tickets for the concert are available at the Garden, Super Market, in Dimapur.
