DIMAPUR — The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) has expressed strong support to the “historic tripartite agreement” leading to the establishment of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
In a press release, the confederation stated that the “milestone” marks a defining moment not only for the people of eastern Nagaland but for the state of Nagaland as a whole.
“CNCCI firmly believes that the aspirations of the people of eastern Nagaland were genuine, justified, and long overdue. The issues that ultimately led to this agreement could have been addressed by the state government much earlier through sincere engagement and decisive political action,” it stated.
“Had timely measures been taken, years of hardship, underdevelopment, and socio-economic challenges faced by the eastern districts could have bee
n avoided.”
The CNCCI however acknowledged that the present agreement represents a corrective and constructive step forward and welcomed it in the larger interest of equity, justice, and balanced development.

It expressed optimism that with enhanced administrative focus, equitable allocation of resources, and people-oriented local governance, economic progress and development in the FNTA region will accelerate rapidly.
“CNCCI envisions the FNTA will not merely catch up with the rest of Nagaland, but emerge as a strong economic pillar of the state — an anchor of growth, a generator of employment, and a centre of opportunity that will contribute significantly to the overall prosperity of Nagaland,” the confederation stated.
It maintained that the “historic achievement” stands as a compelling testament to the power of unity, perseverance, and collective resolve, adding that the Naga people must draw important lessons from ENPO’s persistence and clarity of purpose.
“CNCCI strongly believes that similar unity among all Naga tribes of Nagaland can create the necessary momentum for an early, honourable, and inclusive resolution of the Naga political issue, which has remained unresolved for far too long,” it added.
The CNCCI appealed to the ENPO to keep the flame of unity alive by sharing its experiences, lessons, and journey with other Naga tribes and towards one united tribal body of Nagaland under common umbrella to strengthen Naga solidarity and to resolve Naga political issue at the earliest.
“The CNCCI is of the firm view that while the creation of FNTA is historic, the absence of a comprehensive political settlement will continue to weigh heavily on Nagaland.
“Without an early and lasting solution to the Naga political issue, even landmark achievements such as FNTA risk being constrained in their full potential,” the release added.
