CMO Kohima highlights status of Covid vaccination

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The chief medical officer (CMO) of Kohima, Dr. Vezokholu Theyo, informed that 73.12% in the age group of 18+ beneficiaries have been administered Covid-19 vaccination, followed by 55.64% to 15 to 18 years beneficiaries, 10.64% to 12 to 14 years and 36.61% precaution dose.

Presenting the activities of the district health society in Kohima during the monthly DPDB meeting held at DPDB hall on July 15 under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, Dr. Theyo informed that free Covid precaution dose for the 18 to 59 age group, who have crossed six months from the date of their 2nd dose, can avail of the facility at government CVC from July 15 onwards, which will continue for 75 days.

She also informed that one confirmed dengue positive case from Kohima town was reported on July 13. Besides the other activities, she highlighted the activities of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK) and the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).

Dr. Theyo also highlighted on the World Population Day and Fortnight, which is being conducted from June 27 to July 24 on the theme “Adopt family planning measures and write a new chapter of progress.” She informed that the World Population Day consisted of two parts – mobilisation fortnight from June 27 to July 10 and the population fortnight from July 11 to the 24th.

During the meeting, the DC reminded the departments on the ban of single-used plastics (SUP) with effect from July 1 and requested them not to use water bottles less than 20 liters in offices or during office meetings. He informed that various activities including conduct of surprise checking would be taken up soon adding that defaulters would be penalised.

On the society registration, the house decided to recommend the following societies for registration to the government. It included Life Connect Nagaland; Nagaland State Social Audit Agency; CUE Academy Educational Society; Spartan Gym Society, and Nagaland Yogasana Sports Association. The house also decided to recommend Kohima College Alumni Association, which was taken up in the last meeting, to the government for necessary action.

On the agenda of NOC for Kohima District Construction Workers Union, the house decided to keep the matter in abeyance now as the assistant labour commissioner, Zaremo Kikon, informed that the department is not taking up such an issue at the moment as per the government’s order.

Updates on the progress of Village Adoption Committees were highlighted by the conveners, wherein the DC requested the committees to initiate activities in their respective adopted wards/ villages at the earliest.

Other highlights of the meeting included a presentation by National Helpline for Senior Citizens, and presentations by various societies for registration.
