CM Rio meets footballers selected to undergo training in Germany
KOHIMA — Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met with the five young footballers from Nagaland on Wednesday who were selected during the Bundesliga Under-13 final trials to undergo training in Germany and extended his best wishes to them.
“Met the five footballers from Nagaland, selected from the Bundesliga Under-13 final trials, to undergo training in Germany. I extend my best wishes to Sehboigin Haokip, Lalminkai Thomson, Asa Ayemi, Nitoka Tamang and Kaiminlen Haokip. I urge them to be committed and work hard,” Rio shared on X following the meeting.
They are among the 30 players selected from across India for the training. Sehboigin, aged 11, Lalminkai, aged 12, Asa, aged 12, Nitoka, aged 11, and Kaiminlen, aged 13, were selected from among the 12 players who participated in the Bundesliga U-13 final trials held in Mumbai.
The five boys were selected from various training institutes, including Khelo India, Dimapur Sporting Club (DSC), and the School of Football Academy.
The 30 selected players from India, who will undergo training in Germany, were scouted and selected by former players from Bundesliga clubs, including Bayern Munich.
