Chief Minister TR Zeliang and NPCC have extended warmest Christmas greetings to the people of the State. “On my own behalf, and on behalf of the people of Nagaland, I extend my warmest Christmas Greetings to all the citizens of Nagaland,” the CM said in his greetings today.
Zeliang said on that faithful night when Jesus Christ was born more than 2000 years ago, the heavenly hosts of angels had sung out their first Christmas greetings to people of the earth with these words “Glory to God in the highest; And on earth peace; Goodwill towards men”. “So this Christmas, let us all greet each other with the same chorus, so that we give glory to God, and there may be peace and goodwill amongst us all. I think that this will be the best way to ensure that this Christmas becomes a truly blessed Christmas for all of us,” he said.
The CM also wished all the citizens of Nagaland a blessed and prosperous New Year 2015.
Extending its warm Christmas greetings to the people of Nagaland, the NPCC wished that this Christmas celebration will be an occasion for true believers to reflect and renew the pledge to abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ that offered hope and salvation for the mankind.
The State Congress also appealed to all believers to celebrate this Christmas by allowing Christ to be born in our hearts and welcomed in our homes so that the real spirit of Christmas brings peace, prosperity and happiness to everyone.

Yuletide finally grips Kohima

Kohima, December 23

With the State reeling under great financial crisis having a deficit of over Rs 1500 crore, unlike the other years Yuletide seemed to have gripped the State capital only a couple of days back with people seen rushing for last minute Christmas shopping.
Even as many houses have been illuminated with decorative lights and stars on their roofing, the State’s financial crisis can be experienced amongst the general public as many homes have avoided the decorations apparently marginalizing than the previous years.
Comparatively in the previous years, the capital town used to be almost desolate by third week of December with people from other districts and rural areas studying and working here heading for the respective villages to join the near and dear ones for the festivities while also avoiding the biting cold.
However, despite the commencement of winter vacations for educational institutions from mid-December and government offices breaking for festivities from today, people were rushing for the last minute shopping creating traffic havoc in the State capital for the last two days.
Besides the apparel markets witnessing human jams, bakeries are doing brisk business with people rushing to buy cakes to exchange as Christmas gifts. Nonetheless, with the advancement of information technology, the days of exchanging Christmas, especially amongst the young ones, also seems to be vanishing as they seem to engage greetings and wishes through sms and social networking sites.
Moreover, despite the chilling weather, with lowest Mercury hovering around seven degree Celsius, youth of some churches are seen moving around singing Christmas carols and also extending greetings to fellow church members.
