Cloth bag project launched at Carmel Bhavan in Dimapur
Dimapur, Oct.4 (EMN): A cloth bag project has been launched at Carmel Bhavan to spread awareness among various communities and societies about the “need to live in a plastic-free environment.”
A press release from Carmel Bhavan informed that the project was launched at the headquarters of CMC sisters at Chekiye village, Carmel Higher Secondary School campus in Dimapur on October 4. Toiho Yeptho, chairman of Chekiye village inaugurated the project.
Speaking at the event, Yeptho said it was a “noble effort and it will go a long way in its aim to make a pollution-free world”. He handed the first bag to the provincial superior Mother Emilin, after which the members took a pledge towards building a plastic-free environment, it read.
According to the statement, the CMC sisters who have been in the North East for the past 53 years, “have seen the slow but steady rise of many pollutants used in the day-to-day lifestyle of its denizens and are committed to contributing something toward uplifting the people.”
The project is an “undertaking wherein cloth bags are stitched and used in place of plastic bags,” it informed.
