Clean-up exercise held at Khongjom War Memorial Complex
IMPHAL — The Thoubal district administration in Manipur organised a cleanliness drive on Saturday at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex at Khebaching, about 35 kilometres south of Imphal.
The aim was to ensure the cleanliness of this historical site in preparation for the State Level Khongjom Day celebration scheduled for April 23.
During the initiative, participants from various line departments engaged in tasks such as grass cutting, trimming bushes, and cleaning water bodies to enhance the appearance of the memorial complex for visitors.
Staff from various departments, including the municipal councils of Thoubal, Wangjing Lamding, Yairipok, and Shikhong Sekmai, as well as representatives from the Minor Irrigation, Water Resource Department, Zonal Education Office, Transport, Forest Division, Thoubal Police, and Fire Service, among others, participated in the drive.
Khongjom Day is observed annually on April 23 in remembrance of the brave sons of the soil who fought valiantly in the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. This commemoration takes place at the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
