Kohima, Nov. 10 (EMN): United VNS Dimapur booked their quarter-final berth after defeating Kings FC 4-0 in the pre-quarterfinal match of the 24th Classic Cup here on Saturday at the Kohima local ground.
Souhioumpou scored a wonderful volley, while Medeneituo, Kuhien, Laiwang and Souhioumpou scored a goal each for United VNS as they registered an easy win over Kings FC.
In the match, Dimapur team dominated the game and should have won by a bigger margin following some poor finishing from their forwards. The team got their break through from Medoneituo’s penalty in the 28th minute after Laiwang was brought down by the defender inside the area.
The Dimapur team also hit the crossbar twice through Souhioumpou and Laiwang in the first half. Kings FC with their blunt attacked failed to test the opponent keeper as they nervously defended the score.
In the second half, the dominated Dimapur side continued their pressing as Kuhien scored in the 45th minute. In the process he dribbled pass the defender and thumped home over the keeper into the empty net to double the lead
Laiwang also got his goal in the 48th minute to make it 3-0, while Souhioumpou scored a screamer in the injury added time to finish the match in favour of Dimapur team.
In their next match on Nov. 15, Dimapur team will take on Chedema Village Youth Organisation in the quarter-final round.
