Kohima, Nov. 5 (EMN): The FC Chizami United, Kohima Bible College and United XI registered win on the second day of the ongoing 25th Classic Cup played at Khuochiezie local ground in Kohima on Tuesday.

The silver jubilee edition of the sporting extravaganza with the theme “Together We Can” is being organised by the Classic Club Kohima and it kicked off on Monday, November 4.

In the first match of the day, FC Chizami United overcame Saptiqa FC Zunheboto by 3-2 via tie-breaker and became the second team to enter the second round of the tournament.

Earlier during the encounter, Chizami United took an early lead after Eneibe Thopi scored just six minutes into the game. When it looked like Chizami United would win the game with the lone goal, Kito scored the much-needed equaliser for Saptiqa FC in the injury time to end the match in a 1-1 draw.

However, in the penalty shootout, Chizami United converted three spot-kicks against two from Saptiqa FC to win the match.

In the second match of the day, Kohima Bible College blanked United Brothers FC 3-0 with Kevilezo Sachü scoring in the 20th minute and Talizhu in the 33rd minute. Then Momohü slotted home one more goal just two minutes before the final whistle to increase the score line to 3-0.

The third and final match of the day was a one-sided contest with United XI thrashing Shining Star Club, Lazami 6-0 to progress into the second round. Metselo Medo opened the floodgate for United XI by scoring in the sixth minute before Kapzei added one more in the 22nd minute.

After the break, Menguse Sale, Metsetso and Erikolo scored a goal apiece for United XI within a span of 11 minutes before Kapzei scored his second goal of the match via a stunning free-kick.

Shining Star have had their share of chances in the match but failed to capitalise on them. In one of such chances, Vifaka Achumi was one-on-one with the opponent’s goalkeeper but he sent the ball straight into the hands of the goalkeeper. Vikito Swu too wasted an opportunity towards the end of the match.
