Kohima, Sep. 16 (EMN): Classic Club Kohima (CCK) on Friday felicitated its life member and adviser, K Neibou Sekhose, who was recently inducted as an executive member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Speaking during a felicitation programme organised by Classic Club in his honour on being inducted as an executive member to AIFF here at 2K Hotel, Sekhose said he had voted in favour of Kalyan Chaubey to be the president of the federation during the recent AIFF general election held in Delhi.
For the welfare of the country and northeast in general and Nagaland in particular in the field of football, he asserted that he cast his vote for the former Mohun Bhayan and East Bengal goalkeeper who won the presidential poll over former Indian captain Bhaichung Bhutia 33-1 during the poll conducted at the Football House in New Delhi on September 2.
“Kalyan Chaubey is the right person for the right post,” Sekhose said.
Fellow Classic Club members honoured Sekhose, who is also the president of Nagaland Football Association (NFA), for his dedication, vision and the series of determined steps taken as a football enthusiast which has placed him on a “befitting pedestal.”
The club wished him the best as he dons the new mantle of responsibility.
On receiving a citation from the club, Sekhose thanked Almighty for coming thus far while narrating how he had started his career as a football enthusiast right from his village.
He acknowledged the club for pushing him to venture out to scale greater heights. “I feel privileged and honour to accept this citation,” Sekhose said.
“It is a proud moment for all the club members that one of our members is now in the national level of the most important game in the world,” said Chotisuh Sazo, MLA and life member, Classic Club.
Mentioning that Sekhose has occupied a “prestigious post” in AIFF, he expressed hope that with the presence of Sekhose in the federation, Nagaland will progress in football at par with the rest of the country.
Sazo described Sekhose as a “simple man with a big heart,” recalling him as a self- trained footballer who even without attending any football academy, was a good sportsperson in their college days too.
“Whatever he does, he does in classic manner,” the legislator said, recounting how Classic Club was also formed under the leadership of Sekhose.
