Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), CL John, inaugurated a ‘Paan’ (Morung) of the Chen Union at Aboi town on December 28 as the chief guest. John unveiled the monolith, while the ATBC pastor Rev. Yeangphong said the dedicatory prayer.
Speaking on the occasion, John lauded the Chen Union at Aboi town for their hard work put in towards construction of the Morung. He also expressed gratitude to the surrounding villages and areas leaders for rendering their support and cooperation to the Chen Union Aboi, a DIPR report stated.
Addressing the gathering, John reminded about the sacrifices and hardships rendered by the pioneers towards conserving the rich cultural heritage. He stated that in the olden days the forefathers built Paan (Morung) for training and also for taking any kind of decision for society or village.
John further encouraged the younger generation to make use of the “Paan” for training as well as in taking the right decision for peace and prosperity.
Also speaking on the occasion, MLA Eshak congratulated the Chen Union Aboi for constructing a Morung at Aboi town. Eshak lauded for setting up good example of unity to the people.
Short speeches were also delivered by Pangao, KU president Aboi unit; TP Pongyao, KU president Chen unit; Wangshok, KVCU president Chen block; Shakwang Ahng from Langmeing.
It stated that the programme was held in compliance with Covid–19 SOP issued by the state government by way of using hand sanitiser, wearing face mask and maintaining social distancing.
On the occasion, CL John also released the Morung booklet which was dedicated by Rev. Yeangphong. The welcome address was delivered by M Tahkei Walim, president of Chen Union Aboi, while a song was presented by Lemwang and Shaboh. Other highlights included beating of log drum by Ngangching and presentation of cultural dance by Chaoha Union Aboi town and cultural song by Chen Yikyalan.
