Independence Day is a time when community organizations give in charity to the disadvantaged, the destitute, and the downtrodden sections of the society.
Contractors, suppliers visit Naga Hospital
So also, members of the Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers’ Union visited the Naga Hospital in Kohima town during the Independence Day celebrations.
The contractors donated an amount of cash to around 130 patients as a token of solidarity, good wishes and blessings for speedy recovery.
Kerala Club visits Eden Garden Orphanage
Members of the Kerala Club Kohima led by its president AK Prem Kumar also marked Independence Day by visiting a local orphanage in Kohima district, Eden Garden Orphanage in Khuzama on August 15. The visit to the orphanage was a part of the 69th Independence Day celebrations. The visitors distributed sweets and essential items to the members of the orphanage.
Nagaland Flying & Adventure Sports Association
Likewise, celebrating Independence Day, the Nagaland Flying & Adventure Sports Association visited Cradle Ridge, a home and healthcare center in Kohima town for the destitute run by the Naga Mothers’ Association.
The visitors donated three bags of rice besides biscuits, pineapples, sports material, crayons, pens and clothing.
Lions Club visits school
Members of the Lions Club of Kohima marked Independence Day by visiting differently-able students of Cherry Blossoms School in Kohima, on August 15. The visit to the school was a part of the 69th anniversary celebrations of Independence Day. The members of the club donated towels to each of the students of the school.
Appreciating the service rendered by the principal and her team for the differently-able students, the members of the club encouraged the parents with the words that “These disabled students are more abled (sic) than the abled (sic) ones.”
The visitors thanked the institution for rendering valuable services to the society and bringing the disabled children up.
Headmistress Purnima Kayina gave an outline of the school’s history and other details about the school’s current work. There are about 200 students, including 30 differently-able children.
