Multiple civil society and student organisations in Nagaland have condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor in Dimapur.

DIMAPUR/MOKOKCHUNG — Multiple student bodies, rights organisations and civil society groups have condemned the alleged sexual assault and physical abuse of a minor girl in Dimapur and demanded a fair, impartial and time-bound investigation, strict legal action against all those involved, and justice for the victim.
In separate statements, the Naga Students' Federation (NSF), Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF), Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Angami Students' Union (ASU), Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU), Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF), Nagaland Alliance for Children’s and Women’s Rights (NACWR), and Human Rights Help Association Nagaland (HRHAN) expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and reiterated that crimes against children cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
NSF: The NSF strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault and physical abuse of the minor girl in Dimapur and his alleged associates. It described the incident as a heinous, barbaric and inhumane act that has no place in a civilised society.

Accused arrested in minor sexual assault case after Dimapur court rejects anticipatory bail
The federation expressed solidarity with the victim and her family and urged law enforcement authorities to conduct a fair, prompt, impartial and thorough investigation. It also called for strict legal action against the accused and all individuals allegedly involved in accordance with the law.
ENSF: The ENSF also condemned the alleged sexual assault and stated that such an act was a gross violation of human dignity and child rights.
The federation demanded that law-enforcing agencies thoroughly investigate the matter and immediately book the accused and his accomplices under relevant provisions of law.
AKM: The AKM strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl in Dimapur.
In a statement, AKM President Lanulemba Longchar and General Secretary Aomayang Longkumer described any form of violence or abuse against women and minors as deeply disturbing and unacceptable. It stressed the need for the legal process to be carried out in a fair, impartial and professional manner.
“At this stage, we urge individuals and organisations to refrain from speculation or making assumptions until the investigation is complete,” the AKM stated.
ASU: The ASU called upon law enforcement and judicial authorities to expedite the legal process to ensure the highest measure of statutory punishment for the perpetrator.
The union stated that justice should be executed with transparency and integrity and without external interference or compromise. It also extended solidarity to the victim and her family.
WSSU: The WSSU condemned the sexual assault of the minor girl and expressed concern over the granting of anticipatory bail to the accused in a case involving a minor.
The union stated that offences committed against minors should not be treated with leniency and urged the authorities and the competent court to ensure an immediate and impartial investigation as well as fast-track legal proceedings.
WNYF: The Western Naga Youth Front, while condemning the alleged sexual assault, recognised the courage of the victim and her family in coming forward and appreciated the support extended by the Chang Union Dimapur.
It also acknowledged the prompt action taken by law enforcement authorities and urged investigating agencies to ensure a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation.
NACWR: The NACWR condemned the alleged sexual assault and physical and mental abuse of the minor.
NACWR appealed to the competent authorities to revoke the anticipatory bail granted to the accused and ensure a fair, impartial and thorough investigation. It urged investigating agencies to take all necessary legal measures to ensure that the accused is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
HRHAN: The HRHAN also condemned the sexual assault and demanded immediate, fair and strict legal action against the accused.
HRHAN urged the authorities to ensure a swift investigation and proper justice for the victim, stating that any negligence or delay in such cases weakens public trust in the justice system.
