Dimapur, Jan. 5 (EMN):
Amid demand to postpone the upcoming Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 citing surge in Covid-19 cases, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Wednesday stated that the exam will be held as per scheduled.

“After carefully reviewing the situation prevailing due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Union Public Service Commission has decided to conduct the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2021 as per schedule i.e. on 7th, 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th January, 2022,” read statement from the UPSC.

Meanwhile, the Commission has requested the state governments to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the candidates and examination functionaries in their movement, especially who are coming from containment and micro-containment zone(s); to use e-Admit Cards of candidates and examination functionaries’ ID Cards as movement passes if necessary.

It also requested the state governments to make public transport operational to the optimum level at least from January 6 to the 16th for smooth movement of candidates and exam functionaries.

All the competent district authorities and the venue supervisors have been provided the necessary guidelines like basic safety measures for conduct of the exam, it stated.

The UPSC conducts civil services examination every year in three stages — preliminary, main and interview — to select the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, among others.
