Citizens’ factfile: What is the NERPAP?

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Program (NERPAP) is a program launched by the Election Commission of India across the country with the objective of bringing a totally error-free and authenticated photo electoral roll. 1. What are the main objectives of the NERPAP?
Linking and authentication of EPIC data of electors with Aadhaar data of UIDAI only
Voluntary disclosure by the electors concerned of multiple entries pertaining to them and disposal of such cases within 15 days by the concerned EROs under intimation to the concerned electors.
Corrections of errors or any relevant entry pertaining to electors within 15 days on production of cogent documentary evidence.
Improvement of image quality, wherever requested by following the due procedure.
Obtaining and feeding in the ER database the mobile and email address of the electors so that periodic information of poll day, revision schedule, deletion/correction notice etc and other facilitation services can be provided to them
2. How I can link my EPIC number with Aadhaar data of UIDAI?
Online self feeding by elector through NSVP portal.
Through SMS Gateway, e-mail, mobile application.
Information given in a prescribed simple form along with the copy of Aadhaar and EPIC information collected on the prescribed format through BLOs during their door to door visit or information collected through the VSCs.
3.How can I enroll myself in the Electoral Roll?
Subject to the provision in section 16,17 and 18 of the Representation of the People Act 1950, any person who is not less than 18 (eighteen) years of age as on the qualifying date, and ordinarily resident in the constituency shall be entitled to be registered in the electoral roll for that constituency by applying in Form No. 6 along with residential and age proof, during revision of electoral rolls at the designated locations or in the office of Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or in Form No. 6 in duplicate along with residential and age proof, in the office of Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer on any working day.
4.I am a voter of a particular place having an EPIC and I have applied for the Aadhaar number, what information regarding Aadhaar number shall I give to the BLO for Aadhaar feeding?
If you have applied for the Aadhaar number you can give EID (Enrolment ID number) to the BLO for Aadhaar feeding.
5.Suppose we are five family members but own a single mobile phone, can that number be fed in respect of all the members of the family?
Yes
6.Suppose I am a registered voter of Shimla but having an Aadhaar number of my native place Chamba, Can I give particulars of that Aadhaar for Shimla?
Yes
7.Can I give information pertaining to my Aadhaar number telephonically?
Yes, a permanent facilitation centre has been installed at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office with the toll free number 1950. Any elector can give information pertaining to Aadhaar for Aadhaar feeding on this number on any working day during office hours.
8.If my name is registered at two places as voter. How can my name be deleted from the place where I don’t reside anymore?
This can be done in two ways . You can either apply in Form No. 7 for deletion in the office of ERO/AERO concerned of the place you are no more a resident or by way of suo-moto deletion made by the ERO based on the report submitted to him by the BLO concerned.
9.Can a Elector check his/her particulars through internet?
Yes. A search facility has been provided by the election department wherein anybody can check his name and other particulars pertaining to electoral rolls by logging on to the official website www.ceohimachal.nic.in
