Rev. Dr. L Noksangchila, a personification of contentment, generosity, sacrifice with a matchless integrity who had dedicated her life for the downtrodden and those in need during her stay in Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, more as a nurse than a chaplain, was recognised for her selfless contribution by CIHSR through dedicating the hospital’s hostel in her name.
Dr. Sedevi Angami, Director of CIHSR, recalled Rev. Dr. L Noksangchila as a woman, who had sacrificed her comforts with simple intention to feed the homeless in the street and needy patients.
A recipient of several humanitarian awards, Rev. Dr. L Noksangchila, who was also present at the inaugural event, conveyed her immense yearning to work with nurses and modestly said she had not contributed much for the hospital.
However, she said the gesture of CIHSR authority was a great occasion for her and conveyed that ‘God has every good purpose for everyone especially for those who sacrifice willingly.
The hostel was built with the financial assistance from NEC under the Project “Setting up of North East Regional Multi Disciplinary Paramedical Institute at Dimapur, Nagaland” with an amount of Rs 13.49 crore. The hostel can accommodate around 380 students, said Dr. Sedevi Angami.

P Talitemjen, former State chief secretary and nephew of Rev. Dr. L Noksangchila, extended gratitude to CIHSR authority for associating his aunt with the hospital who is also the first woman in the State to be ordained as Reverend in a patriarchal masculine society .
The former bureaucrat uprightly conveyed that he never expected CIHSR would materialise with the controversies it was surrounded with initially. However, he articulated contentment over how the hospital has been successfully gathering to medical needs and attention.
On the day, the former bureaucrat advocated accommodating each other’s idea and learning through living and working together.
