Dimapur, May 5 (EMN): The Church leaders have a vital role in bringing together the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) and facilitate amicable solution to the Naga issue said Secretary of Land Resources, Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS, while calling upon Church leaders to be fearless in standing for justice on any issue and take the society forward. He was addressing at the Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) Pastors’ Seminar at Akuvuto, Thahekhu on Friday.
Kikheto lauded the forum for working towards Naga reconciliation and bringing together the Naga groups and scaling down the rate of killings to minimal. He urged the Church leaders to constantly pray that killings do not recur in the society. “Since all Naga national workers are also a part of the Church, the Church leaders have a very important role to play in teaching about unity among the various groups,” he added.
Emphasising on the role of the Church in transforming the society through their powerful platform, Kikheto remarked the NBCC as an organisation alone cannot achieve the goal but the main work force was constituted by the pastors who should strongly sensitise the congregation on the ill-effects of various malpractices in electioneering. He also lauded the Clean Election Campaign of the NBCC.
He maintained that electoral malpractices has not only corrupted the society but also deeply affected the economy and caused social disorder as well. He called upon the people to lend their support and cooperation in the clean election campaign and urged Pastors to be the driving force.
“If the pastor means business, then there is no reason to fear any authority, GBs or politicians to speak the truth,” he stated. However, he also drew attention on respecting the government which he said was instituted by God and that the people should not treat the government as their enemy.
Further, Kikheto said God had blessed Naga people with abundance of resources, however, he lamented that people were not able to use it efficiently.
The seminar is being attending by scores of Pastors in Western Sumi area and will culminate on May today.
