Chumu Town Council issues notice for business, public amenities

Chumukedima Town Council has issued several notice regulating business activities and vehicular traffic in the town. The council issued separate notice on Friday, September 12. The council has issued orders against setting up advertisement boards, kiosks and banners within the town’s jurisdiction. No government agency, nongovernmental organization or companies would be allowed to set up the advertisements without prior permission of the council, the first order from EAC and administrator of the council Thungbemo Patton stated.
Those interested may seek the permission of the EAC of Chumukedima Thungbemo Patton. Failure to adhere to the order would invite removal and confiscation of the advertisement business materials by the administration without notice and no complaint would be entertained, the council cautioned.
Another notice from the EAC has also noted complaints from the public that rampant illegal parking by vehicles along the national highway and town’s roads are causing risk to life and property. All vehicle owners are directed to park their vehicles in the demarcated parking zone only and not in No parking zones. Defaulters will be penalized with a fine of Rs. 1000, the order stated. Also, auto-rickshaw drivers are directed to produce and valid license and uniforms. Defaulters will be penalized with a sum of Rs. 2000 and their vehicle will be seized, the order added.
Also, the council has ordered renewal of trade licenses or registration of firms on or before September 16. Defaulters will be penalized with fine, the EAC stated. Mills, petrol pumps, factories, gas agencies and their like (category A) will be imposed a fine of Rs. 10, 000; hardware, grocery shops, wholesale, readymade garments, bakeries and restaurants, lodging and, pharmacies and any private agencies and their like (category B) will be imposed a fine of Rs. 5, 000; hotels , pan shops, barbers, vegetables, fish and meal dealers, poultry business, garages, automobile parts shops and their like (category C) will be imposed a fine of Rs. 2, 000, the order stated. The orders come into immediate effect.
