DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association (CCCTA) has announced that it would impose closure of all shops within Chümoukedima town jurisdiction on April 26.

In a press communiqué on Tuesday, the association stated that the call for closure of shops was made to show solidarity and support to the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) in their stand against ‘unjust and rampant exploitation of the business community.’

The CCCTA stated that the unconducive environment created by Naga political groups, with unabated and rising cases of harassment to the business community is very concerning. “Such illegal and coercive activities should be stopped once and for all for common good,” it said, while lauding the law enforcement agencies for curbing illegal extortion in Chümoukedima town.

It also appealed to the law enforcement agencies to clamp down on all prevalent organised crimes which the business community is made to bear on a daily basis.

Requesting the civil society organisations and the general public of Chümoukedima town to bear with the inconveniences, the association sought their support and co-operation in the fight for justice for the business community.
