Christian forum to work for unity, conduct fellowships

Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Members of the Christian Forum of Dimapur have decided on a number of activities and plans of action to ‘enhance unity’ among the Christian community besides those from other religions. The group will also be conducting fellowships in different churches, updates stated.
The forum issued a press release to the media on Sunday informing about the forum’s scheduled activities.

The forum conducted a meeting on August 31 at the Bishop’s House in Dimapur. The members discussed a number of issues and took resolutions to ‘bring unity and positive changes among the churches in Dimapur.’

The forum stated to organise an inter-denominational Christmas carol at Dimapur this year 2019. “The Christian Forum Dimapur youth wing was given the responsibility to organize the event. They were also assigned to prepare the budget and go ahead with the programme,” the press release stated.

“They were also instructed to organise the programme with a minimum budget in collaboration with government and non-government organizations to bring the youth in one platform to augment the spiritual life.”

Another matter the forum discussed was about organising a seminar for Christian leaders. The executive members of the Christian Forum of Dimapur agreed to organize a seminar for Christian pastors and reverends, priests and the ‘faithful’ on October 22, the press release stated.

“The main purpose of the seminar is to pray and create awareness on the various issues happening against minority communities and especially among Christians in the biggest democracy of India and work for unity and harmony among the people in the country,” the press release stated.

The event will begin at 8:00 am and till 1:00 pm, the updates stated. The venue is the Town Baptist Church in Dimapur, the forum informed.

Another programme suggested by members including having a monthly Christian fellowship in different churches: The members decided to have the fellowship on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 am-7:00 am in different churches ‘praying together with their pastors, reverends, priests and faithful, for the unity and immediate settlement and find sustainable solution for the protracted Indo-Naga conflict,’ the forum stated.

Further, the members have decided to come together to pray on September 3 at the Sumi Baptist Church, in collaboration with the local church pastor and church members; ACRC church on October 1 in Burma Camp; Holy Cross Church in Dimapur on November 5, and at the Assembly of God Church on December 3, the press release informed.
