DIMAPUR — The Chozuba Block TB Forum meeting was held at the Additional Deputy Commissioner's office, Chozuba, on November 21.


In her opening remarks, ADC of Chozuba Dr. Diana Patton urged TB control officials to provide the best resources, including technical equipment, and assured that the administration is ready to offer support in coordination and any necessary services to control TB in the district, a DIPR report stated.


Dr. Ebenezer Phesao, DPO CD-II, Phek, highlighted the objectives of the Block TB Forum and informed that India has the highest number of TB victims in the world.

Informing that eight cases of TB were detected under Chozuba Block in the current year, the DPO shared the challenges faced by the office, particularly in testing TB, due to a lack of full equipment.


Dr. Phesao appealed to officials to work towards making the district TB-free and asserted that Phek district is the best-performing district in eliminating TB in the state.


He also stated that the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has enabled good healthcare to control TB in India. He added that TB patients require support from family and society.


The testimony of a TB survivor and champion was shared by Masune Tetseo, who said he was a TB patient but survived with the assistance provided by the government hospital.


He mentioned that the hospital provided free medicines, good food, and cash support for his diet. Expressing gratitude to the government, doctors, and hospital staff, Tetseo explained how taking his medicines as prescribed by the doctors on a specific schedule led to his cure from TB.


A word of gratitude was expressed by Dr. Lolekhol Pucho, Senior Medical Officer of Community Health Centre (CHC), Chozuba. He also informed the gathering about the cashless treatment available at CHC, Chozuba, and appealed to the attendees to register for a health card and avail themselves of free health services.


Verato Swuro, Block Programme Manager (BPM) of Chozuba Block, monitored the meeting. The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, health department, Department of Information, Public Relations, and Chozuba Town Council, as well as well-wishers.
