Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): The 18 Chozuba Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCC) has resented over the alleged ‘gross apathy and step motherly treatment’ meted to the people of Chozuba area by the Road & Bridge Department which had blocked the newly constructed Sidzu River Bridge from Chozuba to Kohima via Kijumetou Road. ACCC statement said the area people have been suffering untold miseries for long due to the road blockage since other alternative roads are all beyond useable for public conveyance. Although the present mentioned road is still under construction for black topping yet the public has no other alternative but to use it, especially during rainy season, it said adding this is the only available lifeline as of now to transport sick people, public commodities and general mobility etc. It was learned that Road & Bridges Department has kept the bill pending, due to which the concerned contractor/firm has sealed the Sidzu Bridge for any further public use unless necessary bills are released. ACCC urged upon the concerned department to immediatly look into thematter and release the fund accordingly and open the road for public utility. In this regard, it brought notice to the respective authorities concerned that the public cannot be held ransom due to failure on the part of the government and the concerned contractor. It further stated that non-compliance to its appeal might lead to any untoward consequences in near future adding the concerned department and the contractor/firm would be held responsible for any eventuality arising out of it.
