KOHIMA — The 30th Chokri Area Wrestling Association (CAWA) meet 2024 will be held on January 18 at local ground, Chetheba town in Phek district.
Around 50 wrestlers from 10 villages and one town will vie for the coveted title. NWA reigning champion and four-time defending champion of the Chokri Area, Venuzo Dawhuo and other prominent wrestlers like Pfusato Tetseo, Besuhveto Cumu and Vemele Thingo are in the fray, an update stated.
Advisor of CAWA and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, will attend the event as special guest, while Kiihiipoyo Puro, former vice president of the Wrestling Federation of India, will be the guest of honor.
The champion will receive a cash prize of INR 1 lakh, first runner-up INR 80,000, second-runner up INR 70,000 and the fourth position holder will receive INR 60,000.
The total cash prize for the U-16 category is INR 60,000.
CAWA president Vezhodiiyi Thisa will deliver the presidential address in the opening ceremony, while CAWA technical secretary Thepukhoyi Swuro will administer the oath to the wrestlers.
