DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of Chümoukedima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held on November 10 at the DC’s conference hall, Chümoukedima, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John.


Addressing the members, the deputy commissioner appreciated the departments for their cooperation and urged officers to ensure regular participation in DPDB meetings, a DIPR report stated.


John stressed the importance of strong coordination among departments to ensure timely and effective implementation of developmental projects.


Highlighting the district’s ongoing growth, he emphasised the need for a holistic development approach covering infrastructure, education, health services, sanitation, agriculture, and community development.


The DC encouraged departments to maintain clear communication, ensure transparency, and work collectively to resolve challenges for smooth delivery of public services.


The meeting also discussed a directive from the Tribal Affairs department regarding upcoming tribal observance programmes. John informed that Adi Seva Kendras (ASKs) will serve as local facilitation centres during the celebration period.

Proposed activities include floral tributes and cultural observances on November 15 to honour tribal freedom fighters, benefit saturation camps to promote enrolment in welfare schemes, grievance redressal camps for public concerns, health and nutrition camps, and community outreach programmes such as agricultural input distribution and digital empowerment workshops.


All departments have been instructed to document activities and upload reports on the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) portal.


Onglingaku Chang, Project Officer and State Nodal Officer, was assigned overall coordination responsibilities.


The DPDB discussed and approved several key proposals, including registering The Cornerstone Foundation in Urra village, recognising Greenfield Academy in Ganeshnagar, and opening a new Government Primary School in Chen Village.


The Labour department presented a PowerPoint briefing.


The Phek DPDB meeting was held at DC's conference hall on November 10, where Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman of DPDB, Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, informed that two-day commemorative programmes on Sardar@Unity March will be held in Phek town by organising a cleanliness drive on November 15. Towards this, the DC urged all the government employees of various departments to actively participate in the mass participation.


Nguori also informed that the Patyatra:Sardar@Unity March Rally would be conducted in the district on November 19, where government employees, colony/ward leaders, student community and general public will be participating in the event.


Further, the board decided to organise a pre-Christmas celebration programme-cum-DPDB meeting on December 10.


Representatives from the Evaluation and Transport Departments presented their activities via PowerPoint.
