Kohima, June 30 (EMN): A two-day children’s summer camp organised by St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima town, got underway at Charity School on Thursday on the theme “Treasured: discovering you’re priceless to God.”

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Rev. Fr. Gwatilo Alex Tep, assistant priest of SFS parish, advised the children to dedicate more time in learning about their faith.

“Unless we know about our faith, we can be taken for a ride, took for granted and misled by wrong doctrines or teachings,” he cautioned.

Narrating a story with a demonstration, Fr. Alex reminded the children that they are “precious and priceless” and that each one has been given a “ticket to heaven.” He, however, stated that one must shun laziness, disobedience, selfishness or pride and become more generous and kind towards people in order to get a ticket to heaven.

Singspiration was led by Tabor Ministry, while Petekhrietuo Francis Kiewhuo, catechist of SFS parish, and Sr. Mariam, supervisor of St. Mary’s Convent, were the speakers for the senior and junior campers respectively during the later sessions of the day.

The organising committee member, Kuotseituo John Keditsu, informed Eastern Mirror that they have registered about 400 campers on Thursday.

The children are divided into three categories such as sub-juniors, juniors and seniors with four groups in each category. The four groups have been named Fire Breathers, Infinite Seekers, Traveling Tikis and Skyward Scream.
