DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 : The case concerning a Dimapur-based Children’s Home which had come under scrutiny of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) following allegation of negligence on August 21 has been deferred to September 1. The hearing was earlier scheduled to take place on August 25 wherein the proprietor of the Children’s Home was asked to appear himself along with the remaining children before the CWC. The district CWC chairman told Eastern Mirror that as per the Order, the proprietor had produced the remaining four children on August 25. However, the case is still under investigation, informed the CWC chairman. A reliable source informed that the case has been deferred to September 1 as most of the children’s families are in far-flung areas and taking time to reach. The source added that some parent's contact details could not be traced resulting in the delay of hearing of the case. As the case involved minors, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Dimapur had sought the intervention of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Childline to rescue the children from the Home having 13 children. It may be noted that the Children’s Home located at Grace Colony, Firing range run by a public figure had come under the scrutiny of authorities after surfacing news of allegations for shoplifting and negligence. Four children are still at the Children’s Home who wished to remain there while the 13 rescued children are at a shelter home.
