SHILLONG, SEPTEMBER 18: A four-day festival of children’s films, organised by Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) is set to begin in Meghalaya tomorrow.
For the first time, children from various schools in the remote centres in the north-eastern state will get to see four select films “Kima’s Lode – Beyond the class”, “Mother I Love you”, “Krish, Trish & Baltiboy” and “The Goal”.
The films will be screened at select auditoriums in the state, according to a release issued by CFSI on Sunday.
“Meghalaya is extremely rich in cultural heritage and tradition and this needs to be ingrained in children though the powerful medium of films. With this objective, CFSI has been conducting films screenings for children in Meghalaya,” said CEO of CFSI, Shravan Kumar.
“The films being shown like ‘Mother I love you’ reflect the customs and lineage of this land. We believe that our initiatives will not only strengthen the cultural roots of the children from Meghalaya but also join them with the mainstream,” Kumar said.
In August, CFSI held a similar festival in Tripura and Nagaland where thousands of children from remote areas of the north-east thronged the theatres.
Earlier this year, CFSI had presented the second leg of 19th International Children’s Film Festival in Gangtok, Sikkim, which also covered West Sikkim.
