Dimapur, May 28 (EMN): A programme for distribution of “escort allowances” for children with special needs was conducted on May 28 at the Ruzhukhrie government hr. sr. school in Kohima. The event coincided with another programme updates called “mini sports.”

The government’s publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR), issued on Tuesday updates about said event.

The district mission authority of Kohima organized the programme.

The IPR updates did not explain for what the funds, “escort allowances,” were.

The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, was stated to have exhorted parents to “come out with their children without any hesitation” to avail facilities that have been made available. That way, children can lead a normal life, the IPR quoted him as having said.

Further, the administrator urged officials and parents at the programme to focus on the differently-able children to provide them special education and training to ‘make them independent.’

An assistant coordinator at the education programme Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Thongsenlo, no surname given, offered some numbers about children. Out of 134 registered children, 70 of them received the allowance, Thongsenlo said.

Parents or guardians who were absent on the day are asked to collect the allowance from the district education office at Kohima. The establishment is located near the NBCC Convention Hall, the IPR added.
