Dimapur, Nov. 3 (EMN): Children of various Baptist churches in Nagaland celebrated World Sunday School Day on October 3 with elaborate programmes. Organisers and agencies gave to the media on Sunday details about the programmes in Dimapur, Kohima, and Zunheboto.

The department of Christian education of Lhomithi Baptist Church celebrated World Sunday School Day on November 3 in the church’s premises in Dimapur.
Associate pastor Chipitoli Awomi gave a short message during the event. She spoke to the gathering about the qualities of a child, citing a Bible passage from the book of Mathew 18:2.
Awomi narrated the story of a child who trusted Jesus when called, and that he left his playing, and showing his obedience in that process. She urged the children to have the strength of obedience to obey and to listen to their parents and elders.
To the parents, Awomi urged them to be more responsible when raising their children. For instance, many parents keep mobile phones for their children to watch in order to even feed the child, she said.
'Will we blame our child for using technology too much when they grow up?' she asked. She urged the parents to make efficient use of time and to focus more on teaching their children true Christian values as they will be a child for only a short period of time.
During the event too, 17 students completed their Sunday school course to graduate.
Akaholi A Achumi was awarded best disciplined student for 2019 at the programme.
The Sunday Club of Lhomithi gave a puppet show based on the story of 'the lost son' while the senior class sang a song to the outgoing students.

Lotha Baptist Church at Diphupar in Dimapur celebrated World Sunday School Day on the 3rd in the church’s premises. The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave on Sunday updates to the media details about the programme.
Women’s pastor, Yanpvulo Kenchung, the speaker for the occasion talked about the need for the Sunday school establishment to bring up the children in the path of God. Home is the first place to start Sunday school for children by parents, she said exhorting parents to live life that is acceptable to God, because children emulate their parents.
The speaker congratulated and lauded the Sunday school teachers for nurturing the children and for bringing them closer to God, the IPR stated.
Sunday school children gave musical and dance performances during the event besides Bible recitations, and choreography, among others.

Nepali Baptist Church at Chumukedima in Dimapur also celebrated World Sunday School Day with Robert Aley, the church’s pastor as speaker. A note was received here on Sunday giving details about the programme.
In his message during the event, pastor Robert Aley said children are gifts of God. Quoting from the Bible, he described children as a gift and heritage of God given directly from the hands of God.
He reminded the congregation to ponder on their role as parents in the upbringing of their children as desired by God, and as responsible parents.
During the event, Sunday school students gave skits and choreography performances, and Bible verse recitations.

Zunheboto Baptist
The Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church (ZTSBC) on Sunday organised a World Sunday School Day programme for children too. The church issued a press release to the media on Sunday gving details about the programme.
During the event, Rev. Dr. Daniel Chishi, pastor at ZTSBC gave examples from the Holy Bible, the updates stated. He mentioned about how parents should obey God and shape their children for a good future for the children. He advised against misleading or teaching the children wrong.
Sunday schools were set up to educate the young, poor and orphaned children, the updates stated.
Chishi thanked the parents and Sunday school teachers who play a vital role in educating the children to walk into the holy and righteous path of the Lord, the press release stated.
He urged them to continue with their good work. He said a prayer for the children who were gathered for the event.
The youth choir, Project colony prayer fellowship and the NP/Kbto prayer fellowship sang during the event. The programme also had entertaining items performed by Sunday school students from various sectors.
More than 3,700 people ‘of which the children were more’ enthusiastically attended the event and listened to the Word of God to receive his blessings, the press release added.
