Child related issues prog. conducted at Tseminyu

Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): CHILDLINE Kohima along with a non-governmental organisation, Path Finder’s has organised a three-day long awareness programme on child related issues from Oct. 23 to 25th at Tseminyu. The main objective of the program was to create awareness and sensitised community on child related issues and to appeal them to do their bid by creating a safe environment for the children to live in.
The highlights of the program included- introduction of CHILDLINE and services; presentation of Komal Video- a short film on child sexual abuse; role play on good touch and bad touch; sharing of cases received and intervened by CHILDLINE Kohima; and distribution of child care and protection, the press release stated.
The end initiative, as per a press release, was to equipped children, teachers, and community with knowledge and tools to keep themselves from crimes against children, which is becoming a major concern in the Naga society. The lessons of ‘good touch and bad touch’ had help children understand the boundary for safety measures, and empower them to respond when face with situation. Further, the video was played with the purpose to let the children know that they can always turn to trusted adult for support, the press release added.
About 80 students and teachers from different schools attended the programmes. It may be mentioned that the programme was conducted with support from Tseminyu SDEO and staffs, Tseminyu Student Union, and community at large.
