Dimapur, Oct. 16 (EMN): Justice Lanusungkum Jamir of Guahati High Court, Kohima bench, inaugurated the Child-Friendly Zone and e-Sewa Kendra at District Court Complex, Phek, on October 15.
Jamir, who is also executive chairman of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), in his inaugural address, appreciated the deputy commission of Phek for helping in setting up the child-friendly zone through PBPB Scheme, an updated stated. The judge also thanked the chairperson of Phek DLSA for making the child-friendly zone a success.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]He stated that the child victim of sexual abuse goes through physical and psychological trauma. She also goes through the process of law where she has to appear in the court in the presence of the accused person, witnesses and lawyer, which have another psychological impact on her.
Jamir said the child-friendly zone is set up to provide conducive child-friendly environment for the child victims of sexual abuse, whereby the child can feel at home and her statement and trial be taken without the presence of the accused and without any pressure.
He also stated that the e-Sewa Kendra is a one stop centre for the litigants, lawyers and the public to get information and know about the status of the case, the cause list, judgment, order of case etc from within the district court and outside the district courts and state.
Registrar of Guahati High Court, Neiko Akami, stated that the e-Sewa Kendra is a project under the initiative of the Supreme Court of India with an aim to promote paperless and virtual court, it stated.
It stated that litigants, advocates and the public of Phek district can get access to the status of their cases, proceeding, orders and judgments o the court from the E-Sewa Kendra at District Court Complex Phek.
Member secretary of NSLSA, Victo Sema, also stated that the child-friendly zone would be established in all the districts of Nagaland with the assistance from the deputy commissioner of respective districts under the BPBP scheme. Wokono Yhoshu, JMFC and secretary Phek DLSA, and Povotso Lohe, president, Phek Bar Association, thanked the Justice Jamir and NSLSA for establishment of the child-friendly zone and e-Sewa Kendra at district court complex, Phek.
