Child dies in Lahorijan fire

Dimapur, July 7 (EMN): A four-year-old girl died in a fire that broke out on Tuesday at Lahorijan in Assam, near New Field check gate, Dimapur. Two other children were reportedly missing.

Personnel from Dimapur Fire station went and doused the fire. According to one of the firemen, the fire broke out at Dudu colony of Lahorijan and spread to Dalli Basti. 

He said that they were informed about the fire at 1.18 pm. Between 100 to 150 houses, including some shops, were destroyed, according to him.   

Search for the two missing children were still on, till the filing of this report. The cause of fire was yet to be ascertained.

Six fire tenders were sent from Dimapur, it was informed.

An officer from Assam’s Khatkati Fire department acknowledged the help of Dimapur counterparts in dousing the blaze.
