Chiephobozou SDAO introduces system of rice intensification

Farmers work with cono weeders for rice intensification at a field at Chiephobozou.

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Chiephobozou has implemented a system of rice intensification (SRI) with paddy MTU1010 under National Food Security Mission at various villages.

According to an update on Wednesday, it informed that one such practice at Nerhe Model has been performing well.

The farmers were trained from nursery seedbed preparation with banana pseudo stem to transplanting into the paddy field and thereafter cono weeders usage were taught for weeding purpose, it informed.

The four main components of SRI– soil fertility management, planting method, weed control and water irrigation management – were put into practice for better crop yields.
