DIMAPUR — In a major boost to accessible healthcare, the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT) surgical camp was inaugurated at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Aboi, Mon district, on Thursday.

According to a DIPR report, the initiative aims to deliver advanced surgical and healthcare services directly to citizens in remote and underserved areas of Nagaland.

During the inaugural event, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, MLA, explained the vision behind the CM-MOT programme, noting that while schemes like Ayushman Bharat and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) exist, many in remote regions cannot access them due to travel costs and logistical barriers.

“That is why Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched this initiative — to bring surgical and medical services right to people’s doorsteps,” Dr. Rhutso said.

“Since its launch on January 26, 2025, the CM-MOT team has visited 21 locations. Under Mon district, the team will be covering Aboi and Tobu. Our diverse medical team represents the unity of all tribes working together for one cause — service to humanity.”

He expressed gratitude to the chief minister for sponsoring and supporting the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the district administration, Thangpong, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Aboi, commended the CM-MOT team for their dedication and compassion.

“This noble initiative restores health, relieves suffering, and brings hope to those in need. Your service reflects the true spirit of the medical profession — to heal, to comfort, and to serve humanity,” the ADC said.

Thangpong also thanked Manpon Konyak, MLA, for taking the initiative and facilitating the CM-MOT team’s visit to Aboi, noting that such cooperation between leadership and the medical community makes the programme more impactful.

Highlighting the challenges in rural healthcare, he noted that distance, financial constraints, and lack of awareness are the primary reasons for delay in surgical treatment.

The ADC reiterated the administration’s full support for the CM-MOT mission and emphasised the importance of combining preventive and curative care.

Further, he extended gratitude to the 11th IR for providing accommodation support to the visiting medical team.

Wanglem Konyak, chairman of the Hospital Management Committee (HCMC) Aboi CHC, in his welcome address, thanked Dr. Rhutso and his team for bringing much-needed health services to Aboi’s doorstep.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Konwang, president of Konyak Union Aboi Unit.

Earlier, the event commenced with an Invocation and dedicatory prayer by Manpong, associate pastor of Pinkhong Fellowship Aboi, and was chaired by Walangla, staff nurse at Aboi CHC.

The CM-MOT medical team includes Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, laparoscopic surgeon; Dr. Keneilhoulie Medom, anaesthesiologist; Dr. Mhashie, surgeon; Dr. Rovino, consultant laparoscopic surgeon; Dr. Lanumeren, dental surgeon; four nurses and three OT technicians.
